AND THAT'S WHY WE ISSUE THIS SAFETY MESSAGE

Every audience member gets this safety message as they sit down:

"Hello! We want you to have fun but there are some rules and guidelines! RULE 1: Tonight you may be one of our guest suspects (it’s easy: you don’t have to learn lines or anything - just be yourself – but we can’t pick everyone). IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO PARTICIPATE, LET THE “POLICE” KNOW IMMEDIATELY!  RULE 2: THERE WILL BE ACTION SCENES AND INTERACTIVE EVENTS HAPPENING AND YOU CANNOT PARTICIPATE IN THE ACTION SCENES (don’t touch, grab or otherwise interfere with any of the actors, props, waitstaff or other audience members)! RULE 3: STAGE PROP GUNS WILL BE USED IN THIS PERFORMANCE WHICH MEANS THERE MIGHT BE LOUD GUN SHOTS AND SOMETIMES THESE GUNS CAN EMIT SPARKS (hold your ears, be careful and stay away from them)! RULE 4: For safety and stage reasons, we halt food and drink service during certain scenes (it won’t be long so thanks for your patience).   RULE 5: BECAUSE SOME OF THE ACTION SCENES AND INTERACTIVE EVENTS HAPPEN RIGHT NEXT TO YOU, THERE ARE SOME RISKS YOU ASSUME WHEN YOU ATTEND THESE SHOWS. IF YOU DO NOT AGREE TO ASSUMING THESE RISKS, LET THE “POLICE” KNOW IMMEDIATELY!  RULE 6: The show is being brought to you by the organization, restaurant or individual sponsoring this event. IF YOU HAVE A PROBLEM OR CONCERN, LET THE “POLICE” KNOW IMMEDIATELY AND THEY WILL SPEAK TO THE HOST. RULE 7: This production and all materials copyright 2014 The Killing Kompany.  Please be courteous as well as using discretion with cell phones and texting. No photographs, video or audio taping without our consent.  RULE 8: We perform a new show each time so our format can be different than those performed by other mystery dinner companies. Also, the actors are portraying characters involved in a murder mystery – please bear that in mind when you interact with them - there is adult content and adult situations although there is no obscenity or nudity. WE TRY OUR BEST BUT…there is humor, stage violence and other issues which may not be appropriate for all ages and/or tastes. THE RISKS OF ACTORS

One of the many favorite bits from The Producers:

"Leo Bloom: Actors are not animals! They're human beings!

Max Bialystock: They are? Have you ever eaten with one? "

Recently at a private show, one of the actors , after being revealed as the killer, was "wrestled" to the ground by one of the audience members who was extremely intoxicated. This is the second time this happened to this actor and on another occasion, when he was supposedly "poisoned" and was "dying on the floor", an audience member insisted on giving him a very painful Heimlich Maneuver (it was hard getting her to let go of him).

On all three occasions, the show had to be stopped. It has been few but there are times when audience members, usually fueled with intoxicants,  treat the cast as "things" for their amusement. But we are not things for amusement, we are not animals, we are human beings: "If you prick us, do we not bleed? If you tickle us, do we not laugh? If you poison us, do we not die?" (Shylock, Merchant of Venice, Act 3, Scene 1).

For most of this year, we have partnered with the Off Broadway musical "Murder For Two" - we promoted them (and they promoted us) on their web site and gave us vouchers for tickets to give out as prizes.

They are closing this week (last show is June 29) and we thank them and wish them the best.
