THE QUEENS GAZETTE ON THE LOSS OF RICCARDO'S

We Are Devastated
The Covid pandemic has, and continues to, devastate not only our physical health, but our economic health. Every normal activity of life is up in the air and we pray to return back down to earth. The virus has not only decimated the economy, but has disrupted our whole way of life, including activities that define our society, such as holding gatherings indoors for celebrations and functions of all kinds.

The iconic Riccardo’s by the Bridge has announced they are closing down, another casualty of the economic devastation of the Covid pandemic, and we cannot express adequately our sense of loss of this treasured community meeting place. Generations have brought their once-in-a-lifetime celebrations to Riccardo’s, as well as recurring gatherings. Political, community, civic and other organizations and groups also held gatherings there regularly. The beloved Riccardo’s was at the top of everyone’s list for fundraisers, weddings, anniversaries, awards, holiday bashes, functions, meetings and ceremonies of all kinds, as well as their popular Murder Mystery Dinner Theater shows. We are nostalgic, looking back at countless mentions of Riccardo’s in the Gazette through the years.
We thank Riccardo’s by the Bridge profusely for never once disappointing anyone, and always making each and every event special, wonderful and unforgettable. Reading the outpouring of sad and disappointed comments on our Facebook page regarding the announcement, and about the treasured memories everyone has, we can’t imagine it is possible for any other venue to ever take their place. (We welcome your pictures of happy times at Riccardo’s.)

They have been here so long, to see them close on account of Covid is a tragedy and disaster for us. We thank them from the bottom of our hearts for the beautiful memories! We wish the Riccardo’s family good luck in anything they do in the future – but we also really want to know if there’s any way we can help keep it open. Nothing would make us happier than to run them on our front page announcing they’d found a way to stay open!
