HOW TO IMPRESS MY KIDS.

Not by my many credits - TV, film, stage, etc. - but when they find out I'm going to do a private show for a company that makes products that are sold on TV. And when samples of the products came in yesterday (for me to use during the show), they thought it was for them and that these were birthday gifts, even though their birthday is 3 months away.

WE WERE ASKED TO SUBMIT AN ARTICLE...

...for mypartyplanner.com and we'll see if it gets approved but here it is:

"If you are planning an interactive event for a corporate holiday party - whether a murder mystery, game show, wedding show - you name it, this has been the top ten things to remember, at least in our 17 years of experience:

1. Location - Whether it be your own home, office or an outside venue - make sure the event is permitted and feasible for that location.

2. Location - Again, this is a holiday party and people live all over. Make sure the location is convenient.

3. Location - I guess we sound like a real estate agent by now but again you need to make sure it is handicap accessible.

4. Date - If it is a weekday, remember: the workers have work the next day. If it is on the weekend, remember: the workers may have children and babysitters to consider - which leads to the next concern.

5. Time - If it is during the day, you will be missing a work day and some workers and management may not attend because work is work. If it is at night, see number 4 above.

6. Meal plan - The interactive event will be centered around a meal - so will it be a buffet, sit down dinner, 3 course, 4 course, etc.

7. Alcohol - Will it be served (some companies and groups have restrictions and you certainly don't want a holiday party where people will complain about their co-workers the next day). Will it be a cash bar or open bar and for how long.

8. Table Layout - You want everyone to see the event to participate so watch out for pillars, corners and I guess this goes back to numbers 1 through 3 again: location, location, location.

9. Company concerns - Are there any awards, speeches, etc. that are to be presented? If so, you want it to be incorporated into the event so everything works together and flows smoothly.

10. Hire a professional company - I suggest you find the company directly because I can assure you that if you are working through an agent, event planner, etc., you will pay for that service. Of course, some performers, etc. can only be booked through an agent or booker - it's your decision.

GETTING READY FOR SPECIAL GUEST SUSPECTS

We have at least one for our October 2 show but we can always use more - remember: The Killing Kompany can also make someone from your party a "guest suspect". After you purchase your tickets, send me by email pics, first and last name, and some funny information of the person from your group that you want to make a guest suspect.

YES THE KILLING KOMPANY TRAVELS.....

....but the cost increases. Myself and additional actors are based in the NYC area and other additional actors are based in the LA area. Thus, for events which are greater than 2 hours travel must pay a higher rate and for those greater than that, the cost increases because in effect, the host/ venue would have The Killing Kompany for two days - the costs of travel, overnight hotel, etc. can be high.

THE FINAL TOUCHES FOR OCTOBER 2 SHOW

So due to changes in the news, etc., I had to make some changes to the script but the outline will be sent to other actors (hopefully by tonight) and on with next weeks show.

ARE THERE GROUP RATES FOR SHOW?

A popular question to which The Killing Kompany cannot answer - because it is the restaurant that sells the tickets for the show. It is their show: they set the date, the meal, the price, etc. If you are a group, contact the restaurant directly or if you have a special meal request, ask them if they can accommodate you (they usually do). All of their phone numbers can be found on our Schedule of Shows page. Here is the link:

PRIVATE EVENTS MEAL PLANS

This is a common question when inquiries are made by clients. And the answer is..........whatever you want. I have been able to create shows with these type of meal plans: 1. From 1 - 6 course meals; 2. Buffet or served; 3. BBQ; 4. Pizza or subs (heros, sandwiches, etc.); 5. No meal; 6. Cocktails and appetizers - the list is endless. Because the shows are custom created, The Killing Kompany can work within whatever meal plan you wish.

COMING UP ON 17 YEARS

Just found this the other day: a review of our very first show. It was in Akron, Ohio and Connie Britton (Friday Night Lights, etc.) was in it and helped arranged it. November 1993.

Thursday, 16 September 2010

I WISH I KEPT THAT PLOT....

It's really like starting over. One new venue coming up, contract should be in soon. And a new private show came in. Plus I am up dating the advertising so it will appear in Queens Courier and Anton Newspapers.

Wednesday, 15 September 2010

TODAY I WRITE THIS SHOW

I had a draft of it earlier but I lost it - I do remember the basic plot. Just have to come up with new jokes.

DOES THE PRICE INCLUDE DINNER?

A common question and the answer is.............Yes, it includes dinner and the show and sometimes unlimited wine and beer. You see we do not sell the tickets: the restaurant does and the restaurants set their own price, meals, drink policy, etc. They each also have their own policy regarding group sales, refunds, etc. To purchase tickets, etc., you should contact the restaurant directly. After you purchase your tickets, and you want us to make someone from your group a special guest suspect, email us and we'll get the information from you.

9/11

It's nine years - for the first year thereafter, I changed the format of my shows to comedy mystery, where people got shot, etc. but no one died and I ended each show with a statement that a portion of the money received by The Killing Kompany would be donated to various 9/11 charities and explained that I had no one "murdered" and I wished that it would be that way in real life. This was our first post 9/11 public show Ace Detective - and still on our website for 2001 Ace Detectives:

"September 21, 2001: And at our first benefit show for The September 11th Fund of the United Way and The New York Community Trust, at NIEDERSTEIN'S, a family affair was almost turned into a criminal affair, but all was saved by Ace Detective TINA GILL!"

At the end of the show, a woman came up to me and said "Thank You for going ahead with the show". Her husband was with NYFD and perished at the towers; her friends insisted she have a night out. She said it was the first time she laughed.

THERE'S A REASON

We had a show scheduled for September 11 but The Views At Mt. Fuji decided to cancel it...although we apologize for the cancellation, I now think it was a good idea. Although it's been some time since the September 11 tragedy, our hearts and prayers still go out to everyone and their families. Thanks to your support, from 9/11/01 to 9/11/02, we were able to donate over a thousand dollars from our ticket sales to various September 11 Charities such as The September 11th Fund of the United Way and The New York Community Trust, The WTC Disaster Relief Services Of The Children's Aid Society, Windows Of Hope Family Relief Fund, and The Twin Towers Fund.
